As a Mammography Technologist, you will operate your assigned equipment to capture diagnostic images, providing care that is both patient-centered and meets professional standards. You’ll offer excellent customer service, guiding patients compassionately through the sometimes challenging exam process by explaining each step and addressing their questions and concerns.
This is a part-time role, working 24 hours per week during day shifts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(90%) Patient Mammography Imaging
- Screens patients before exams for any precautions or contraindications, verifying identity and procedure using two patient identifiers to ensure accuracy.
- Explains and prepares patients for Mammography imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately
- Conducts routine and advanced mammography imaging on specified body areas to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating illnesses or injuries, with minimal supervision and few repeat scans. Provides ongoing patient support by communicating throughout the procedure.
- Adjusts Mammography scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate
- Adheres strictly to physicians' instructions, complies with safety protocols, and accurately documents patient information in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Maintains an orderly and clean work area including equipment promoting good safety habits for patients and co-workers
- Ensures compliance with ACR toolkit guidelines and maintains accreditation standards.
(5%) Mammography Department Support
- Assists with maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades
- Tracks medical supply levels and orders replenishments as needed to maintain inventory.
- Assists with training of new associates, providing resource and technical expertise, as applicable
