RAYUS Radiology is looking for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Training to join our team. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Training, you will be responsible for performing patient imaging scanning procedures using sophisticated radiation-detecting instrumentation & preparing and administering radioactive chemical compounds, known as radiopharmaceuticals, to produce images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes, within professional standards.This is a temporary/PRN position working varied shifts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(90%) Patient Nuclear Medicine Imaging with Supervision
- Screen patients before exams for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to examination, using two patient identifiers to ensure the correct patient and corresponding procedure
- Explain and prepare patients for Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, and positioning patients so that parts of the body can be appropriately scanned
- Perform routine and advanced Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures on designated portions of the patient’s body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeat scans, while providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedure
- Assess, prepare, record and administer radio pharmaceuticals according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations and departmental policies
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure safe job performance and maintain a safe work environment, as an integral part of the quality of patient care services
- Adjust Nuclear Medicine scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate
- Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologist, referring customers, other team members, and peers
- Follows physicians’ orders precisely and conforms to safety regulations to protect yourself, your patients, and coworkers
- Accurately maintain patient records within the Radiology Information System (RIS)
- Maintain an orderly and clean work area promoting good safety habits for patients and teammates
- Maintain the American Radiology College (ACR) toolkit and accreditation requirements
- Maintain all equipment in good working order; clean and disinfects equipment after each use
- Ensure compliance with all HIPAA guidelines at all times
(5%) Nuclear Medicine Department Support
- Assist with maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades
- Monitor medical supply inventory and request supplies as necessary
(5%) Completes other tasks as assigned
