RAYUS Radiology seeks a PET/CT Technologist to join their team. The company, formed from the merger of Center for Diagnostic Imaging and Insight Imaging, aims to improve radiology's role in diagnosis and treatment. The PET/CT Technologist will operate PET/CT scanners, producing diagnostic images while prioritizing patient care. This involves providing excellent customer service, explaining procedures, and addressing patient concerns in a compassionate manner. Essentially, the technologist will play a key role in helping patients navigate the diagnostic process.

This position is full-time working on our mobile unit. Shifts vary Monday - Saturday. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(90%) Patient PET/CT Imaging

  • Before each PET/CT scan, the technologist will verify patient identity using two identifiers and screen them for any potential risks or contraindications to ensure patient safety and the correct procedure is performed.
  • The technologist will thoroughly explain the PET/CT procedure to patients, including what to expect. They will also properly position patients on the scanner to ensure accurate imaging of the targeted body areas.
  • The technologist will conduct both routine and complex PET/CT scans of specific body areas, producing high-quality images for physician diagnosis and treatment. This will be done with minimal supervision and a low rate of rescans, while maintaining patient comfort and communication throughout the procedure.
  • Adjusts PET/CT scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate
  • Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologist, referring customers and other associates and peers
  • Follows physicians' orders precisely and conforms to safety regulations to protect yourself, your patients, and coworkers
  • Accurately maintains patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS)
  • Maintains an orderly and clean work area promoting good safety habits for patients and co-workers
  • Maintains ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements
  • Maintains equipment in good working order; cleans and disinfects equipment after each use
  • Ensures compliance with all HIPAA guidelines
  • The technologist will prepare, administer, document, and assess radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission or state regulations and departmental policies.
  • Administers fluorodioxyglucose (FDG) via intravenous methods to patients
  • The technologist will adhere to all safety protocols and best practices, contributing to a safe working environment for themselves and ensuring patient safety is prioritized as a critical component of quality care.
  • Reports contamination to Radiation Safety Officer

(5%) PET/CT Department Support

  • Assists with maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades
  • Monitors medical supply inventory and requests supplies as necessary
  • Assists with training of new associates, providing resource and technical expertise, as applicable
  • Performs and records daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly quality control procedures on PET/CT equipment to ensure compliance with ACR and AOA guidelines
  • Performs daily and weekly departmental surveys to ensure compliance of radiation standards of the department and Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or State Regulations

(5%) Completes other tasks as assigned

Requirements

Required:

  • NMTCB or ARRT registered technologist in Nuclear Medicine, current and in good standing
  • Graduate of the American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of radiography
  • Licensed Radiological Technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Must have training and experience sufficient to competently perform PET/CT procedures independently
  • Certification in imaging specialty

Preferred:

  • Bilingual
  • ARRT certification in CT
  • NMTCB PET Specialty certification
