RAYUS Radiology is looking for a per diem Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. We are challenging the status quo by shining light on radiology and making it a critical first step in diagnosis and proper treatment. Come join us and shine brighter together! As a per diem Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for performing patient imaging scanning procedures using sophisticated radiation-detecting instrumentation & preparing and administering radioactive chemical compounds, known as radiopharmaceuticals, to produce images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes, within professional standards. This position is per diem, working shifts 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(90%) Patient Nuclear Medicine Imaging

  1. Screen patients before exams for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to examination, using two patient identifiers to ensure the correct patient and corresponding procedure
  2. Explain and prepare patients for Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, and positioning patients so that parts of the body can be appropriately scanned
  3. Perform routine and advanced Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures on designated portions of the patient’s body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeat scans, while providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedure
  4. Assess, prepare, record and administer radio pharmaceuticals according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations and departmental policies
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure safe job performance and maintain a safe work environment, as an integral part of the quality of patient care services
  6. Adjust Nuclear Medicine scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate
  7. Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologist, referring customers, other team members, and peers
  8. Follows physicians’ orders precisely and conforms to safety regulations to protect yourself, your patients, and coworkers
  9. Accurately maintain patient records within the Radiology Information System (RIS)
  10. Maintain an orderly and clean work area promoting good safety habits for patients and teammates
  11. Maintain the American Radiology College (ACR) toolkit and accreditation requirements
  12. Maintain all equipment in good working order; clean and disinfects equipment after each use
  13. Ensure compliance with all HIPAA guidelines at all times

(5%) Nuclear Medicine Department Support

  1. Perform and record daily quality control procedures, on specified equipment, to ensure correct and accurate operation
  2. Perform daily and weekly departmental surveys to ensure compliance with radiation standards of the department and Nuclear Medicine Regulatory Commission
  3. Immediately reports contamination to the Radiation Safety Officer
  4. Assist with maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades
  5. Monitor medical supply inventory and request supplies as necessary
  6. Assist with the training of new team members, and function as a resource and technical expert, as applicable

(5%) Completes other tasks as assigned

Requirements

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology; may consider an associate’s degree with applicable experience.
  2. Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of radiography
  3. Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certification, in good standing
  4. Licensed Radiological Technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable
  5. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  6. Must have sufficient training and experience to competently perform Nuclear Medicine procedures independently
  7. Certification in imaging specialty

Preferred:

  1. Bilingual
  2. Registered/licensed in PET and/or PET/CT
